近年全球金融科技浪潮方興未艾，吸引各國積極布局發展，創新應用技術、調整監管法規並提供政策支援，以積極布局爭取優勢地位。台灣金融業身處此浪潮之下，不僅面臨傳統銀行與新興科技金融之相互衝擊，在新創金融科技應用不斷推陳出新之下，如何提升台灣金融競爭力，並協助金融產業轉型，更有賴產官學及政府民間攜手合作。
本基金會名稱(The Appacus Foundation)中"Appacus"一字取自：「現今社會主流的行動科技"App"」，以及人類自二千多年前即運用於算數的重要工具「算盤 (abacus)」結合之新創詞，代表新科技之應用程式與傳統金融之算盤相互結合，象徵著數位時代金融嶄新的發展方向。
新世代金融基金會本於提升台灣金融發展、創新金融服務及促進金融科技之研發與推廣等成立宗旨，自將inform, innovate, inspire，結合各方力量邁向金融新方向。
The rise of Fintech Technology (Fintech) in recent years has attracted many authorities’ attention. Governments have amended laws and regulations providing assistances to ensure dominance in the market. On the crest of the Fintech wave, traditional banking has encountered challenges and is under pressure to make changes. To strengthen competitiveness, the government need to collaborate with academic institutions and private businesses.
This foundation was chartered on Sep. 1st, 2017. The English name of the foundation, Appacus, is the portmanteau word of app and abacus. App represents the modern technology while abacus is a traditional calculating device. Appacus thus means the combination of old and new financial models, not only frictions but also sparkles. Our logo is also an image combining abacus and integrated circuit (IC), showing the spirit of keeping up with times.
We hope to help facilitate financial development in Taiwan and help financial industry enter into a new phase.
